Undergraduate Program
The
The University of Delaware `s Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management has been ranked sixth and seventh in the top hospitality programs in the USA, tied with one of the oldest hospitality programs in the nation and ahead of many more well-known programs, according to an article in the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education, published by the Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education
The HRIM Campus program is limited to 400 students. The program can be characterized as large enough to lead, but small enough to care. The curriculum is structured to provide both a practical and theoretical education.

UD-HRIM Bachelor’s
Degree Requirements for On-Campus Study
1. Transfer a minimum of 90 credits to UD from SSTH based on earning a minimum grade of 5.0 for subjects that transfer to UD as HRIM courses and a minimum grade of 4.5 in all other subjects.
2.
Earn a minimum of 30 credits at the

STAT200 Basic Statistical Practice 3 credits
A Science elective 3-4 credits
FINC200 Fundamentals of Finance 3 credits
HRIM450 Managing Hospitality Information Systems 3 credits
HRIM480 Human Resources Management in the Hospitality 3 credits
HRIM489 Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management II 6 credits
One HRIM elective 3 credits
3. Complete any additional courses at UD to satisfy requirements not met by courses taken at SSTH in which the student did not receive the minimum transfer grade.

The fall semester begins in early September and ends in December. The spring semester begins in early February and is completed by the end of May. Applications for fall must be received by the end of February.
Housing
On-campus housing for transfer students is provided on a space available basis. Transfer students interested in on-campus housing should submit their admissions and housing deposit by the appropriate deadlines. For more information, please visit the Housing (http://www.udel.edu/has/) website.

UD-HRIM Bachelor’s Degree Through Distance Learning
The Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Management is also available via Distance Learning. The University has established SSTH as a site through which the requisite courses can be taken. Students interested in obtaining the degree through Distance Learning follow a slightly different process.
Applicants must complete an application form that is different from the one completed for on-campus study. Go to:

Download the application by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page, where it says Distance Learning Application. The application should be completed in paper form and submitted to SSTH. SSTH is responsible for the administration and support of this program to include receiving applications to the program, forwarding the applications together with a copy of the applicant’s SSTH academic transcript to UD, collecting the program fees, and paying the appropriate tuition to UD.
Students completing the degree through Distance Learning do not need to complete the Summary of Educational Experiences Form or the Confidential Information Form.

About the Graduate
