Amar Tailor, CHA graduated in 1992 from the University of Delaware Hotel Restaurant & Institutional Management Program. During his years at the University and after graduating, Amar was involved in operating his family's motel in New Castle, Delaware, which they've owned since 1977. Having grown up around the hospitality industry, Amar decided a formal education in the industry would be the perfect compliment for his years of practical experience. He has been General Manager of the family owned motel since 1992 and continues in that capacity to this day.
In 1995, Amar received his Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) designation from the American Hotel & Motel Association, which is now known as the American Hotel & Lodging Association. Amar has also been an active member of the Asian American Hotel Owner's Association (AAHOA) since 1989. Amar is currently working on obtaining his Certified Hotel Owners designation, which is given by AAHOA. In April of 2001, Amar purchased two hotels in partnership in Williamsburg, Virginia. He serves as President and Managing Member of those two hotels. In addition to the hospitality business, Amar and his family are also involved in real estate and commercial development.
Amar also serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Delaware Alumni Association as a Satellite Representative for the Hospitality Alumni Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy (CHEP) Alumni Association and lastly he serves as the first Chairman of the Hospitality Alumni Association.
